IANA Blog- January 2026
Blog
Happy January and Happy Gregorian New Year,
As 2026 starts, I wake up on January 3rd and find out that Donald Trump and the U.S. just dropped a bomb in Venezuela and captured their President, Nicolas Maduro. Seeing that reminded me of what he did last month in Nigeria. For this month’s blog, I didn’t want to talk about it, but I knew I had to, and get some things off my chest.
Last month, during Christmas, the U.S. and Trump dropped air strikes in Nigeria. The U.S. is supposedly going after militants tied to the Islamic State group in Northeastern Nigeria. Before dropping their strikes, Trump says he was going to fight “terrorism” in Nigeria. That “terrorism” was when Christians were being killed in Nigeria.
After hearing about the attack, I saw the news about it on social media. I saw Nigerians that were furious about the attack, but I also saw too many Nigerians congratulating Trump for doing that. I saw too many Nigerians saying, “Thank You Trump,” and “ God Bless Trump, God Bless America” and saying things like “Thank You For Fighting Terrorism,” and I’m just like…WHAT??!! I’m not even trying to call anyone out, but I saw celebrations from some of our own. Outside of Nigeria and Nigerian spaces, I’ve seen other Africans (not all, but a couple) mock Nigerians, saying this is “what they asked for,” knowing damn well not all Nigerians asked for this. And when I saw other Africans, Nigerians or people outside of Africa trying to call out Trump for his BS and warn other Nigerians about what’s really going on, I saw other Nigerians getting offended, insulting others and getting angry at other Nigerians for “not coming back home to fix problems,” and I’m just sitting here in disgust, hella irritated.
For anyone who is Nigerian and supports what Trump did, I’m just gonna say it…Trump does not care about you…he does not care about Nigeria…if he did, he wouldn’t have banned us from coming to the U.S., he wouldn’t have said those awful things about us, he wouldn’t just focus on Nigerian Christians, but also the Muslims in Nigeria who were being killed, or the women and girls who stay getting kidnapped. The only reason Trump attacked Nigeria is because of our oil.
Nigeria is the biggest oil producer in all of Africa and the eighth largest gas reserve holder in the world. Why do you think Trump attacked Venezuela a couple days after attacking Nigeria, not to fight any “terrorism” in Venezuela, but to take Venezuela’s oil.
This is nothing new. This has been happening in the U.S., even before Trump became President.
In Africa:
The US was involved in the assassination of Congolese revolutionary and President Patrice Lumumba, which led to the C.I.A. backing the destabilization of The Congo. The Congo, that is going through a genocide hasn’t recovered after that.
Former Ghanaian Prime Minister/President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown in a C.I.A. backed coup and was forced to live in exile in Guinea.
Burkinabe revolutionary and President Thomas Sankara was assassinated in a coup backed by foreign interests aligned with the U.S. and France.
Bissau-Guinean and Cape Verdean freedom fighter Amilcar Cabral was assassinated during Guinea-Bissau’s liberation struggle with the help of intelligence interference.
Mozambican President Samora Machel died in a suspicious plane crash in 1986, during the destabilization of the Cold War.
Former Libyan revolutionary and President Muammar Gaddafi, (who helped transform Libya into a socialist nation and was heavily vilified by the Western media), was overthrown in a coup and assassinated. NATO was involved in Libya’s civil war and Libya hasn’t recovered.
South African revolutionary Nelson Mandela was imprisoned with assistance of US intelligence providing information to Apartheid authorities.
That was just Africa and only a couple of ones off the top of my head, there’s probably more I could find. Of course, they weren’t just involved with Africa, they were involved with other countries and leaders, freedom fighters or revolutionaries fighting for their nations.
In The Caribbean and Latin America:
Grenadian revolutionary and Prime Minister Maurice Bishop was arrested and executed, which led the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States to appeal for assistance from Ronald Reagan and the U.S., which eventually led to Grenada’s invasion of the U.S. and the overthrow of the People’s Revolutionary Government, which was under the leadership of Bishop.
Former Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide was elected and removed twice with U.S. involvement.
Former Jamaican Prime Minister Michael Manley was politically neutralized due to U.S. backed economic warfare and covert operations.
Legendary Reggae artist Bob Marley survived an assassination attempt in 1976, which was politically motivated. The gunmen involved were working with the Jamaican Labor Party and the C.I.A.
Former Chilean President Salvador Allende, who was the first Marxist to be elected president in a liberal democracy in Latin America, was overthrown in a coup, aided by the U.S. and the C.I.A., which led to the Presidency of Augusto Pinochet, who was backed by the U.S.
Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro was targeted numerous times and survived multiple C.I.A. involved assassination and overthrow attempts.
Before Maduro, Hugo Chavez was President of Venezuela and he suffered a U.S. backed military coup in 2002.
The C.I.A. approved the capturing and assassination of Argentine revolutionary Che Guevara, as he was attempting to form revolutions and movements in South America and Africa, especially in The Congo and Bolivia.
Those were a couple of involvements in the Caribbean and Latina America and of course there’s more. And of course, we can’t forget about the U.S. involvement with movements here in the U.S.
In America:
The FBI and COINTELPRO being involved in the Assassinations of Malcolm X, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Fred Hampton of the Black Panther Party.
The FBI and COINTELPRO were involved in the sabotage of the Black Panther Party, including systematically neutralizing the organization’s leader, Dr. Huey P. Newton.
The FBI and COINTELPRO targeting multiple organizations fighting for social justice including Communist Party USA, feminist organizations, activists and organizers who protested the Vietnam War, Students for a Democratic Society, the Student Noncoordinating Committee, environmental organizations, animal rights organizations, The American Indian Movement, The Brown Berets, United Farm Workers and The Young Lords
Freedom fighter and former member of the Black Panther Party and the Black Liberation Army, Assata Shakur, was targeted through wrongful murder charge, imprisonment, exile and permanent state repression.
I could go on for what has happened in Africa, The Caribbean, Latin America and the U.S., but you get the point. When the U.S. gets involved with other countries or people from other countries, they aren’t trying to help or fix things, they want the country’s resources.
Also, if you see Venezuelans celebrating the fact that Maduro got captured, don’t fall for it. Those celebrating are either “plants” or are misinformed. Remember what Nelson Mandela said, when he was talking about the U.S. media, when they talked about his relationships with Yasser Arafat, Muammar Gaddafi and Fidel Castro. “One of the biggest mistakes which some [U.S.] political analysts make is to think that their enemies should be our enemies.” They’re trying to make Maduro and Venezuela the enemy, which they have been doing for a while. Don’t fall for the disinformation.
I forgot to mention…since Nigeria is part of West Africa, I also wouldn’t be surprised if the attack on Nigeria was also a way to try and eventually target Ibrahim Traore and Burkina Faso. President Traore has already survived multiple assassination attempts, as mentioned a few blogs ago.
With that being said, I know not all Nigerians are falling for this, but if there is one message I can spread to the Nigerians who are falling for the misinformation, it is this…Wake Up…stop falling for the misinformation…we’ve seen what happened when America wants to get involved with Africa…we’ve seen when America gets involved with other countries, if you don’t want Nigeria to be destroyed, like these other countries, then you better wake up.
That;s just me, what do you guys think? Let me know and stay tuned for more this year. I’ll also provide information based on this year’s convention.
